These flaky puff pastry apple turnovers are filled with a homemade apple, walnut, and cinnamon filling which make these the perfect warm treats!

2 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled cored and diced 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 tbsp. unsalted butter 1 tsp. ground cinnamon pinch ground nutmeg 3-4 tbsp. walnuts, chopped 1 tsp. cornstarch (dissolved in 1 tbsp. water) 230g puff pastry Egg Wash: 1 egg + 1 tbsp. milk Glaze: 5 tbsp. powdered sugar + 1 tbsp. milk

Step 1

Make the filling.  Simmer diced apples, butter, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and walnuts for 5-7 minutes until softened. Stir in 1 tsp. cornstarch in 1 tbsp. water. Drain extra liquid and transfer mixture to glass bowl.

Slice puff pastry. Slice puff pastry into squares each measuring around 4.5" or 12 cm.

Place 2-3 tsp. of filling in the center of each pastry square. Dip your finger in some water and run it along the edges of the pastry. Fold each square in half diagonally and press edges using a fork. Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with brown sugar & bake for 15-20 mins!

Allow to cool and drizzle with optional glaze!
